David Cameron says Britain has sealed deals with China worth almost £40bn

Prime Minister: David Cameron says Britain has sealed deals with China worth almost £40bn, among them a multi-billion pound contract giving China a 30% stake in the building of Britain's first nuclear power plant in a generation.

Hinkley Point C creates jobs and provides lasting benefit to the UK economy: The construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities and aims to create 1,000 apprenticeships.
Over 60% of the project’s construction value is predicted to go to UK companies. The proposed power station, when up and running, will provide reliable, low carbon electricity to meet 7% of UK demand.

Later projects will benefit from the skills gained from the construction of Hinkley Point C. Hinkley Point C will be the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, marking a significant moment in the revitalisation of Britain's nuclear power industry.
