UK General Election

All new immigrants to Britain should be able to speak English, Ed Miliband has said in an apparent attempt to harden Labour’s line on immigration before the general election on May 7th. The speech marked an effort to end perceptions of Labour as soft on migration. The number of people moving to Britain from other countries increased fivefold under the previous Labour government after some eastern European countries joined the EU and gained the right to live and work in the UK under EU freedom of movement rules.
